Figuring Things Out... Again

It is that time again, the summer.  A time when people act like everything is fine mentally but when push comes to shove, a true life picture comes to play.  The perfect question comes to mind, "What am I doing with my life?"  It can go both ways, it can be either a good thing or bad things. And the best part about it are the symptoms, which include break ups, unchallenged rage, depression, and yes even pointless partying. Now I cannot say how to deal with it but it does help to get out into the world and live a little. Walks in the park, randomly hugging strangers, and the occasional cup of coffee does help in the morning.  The true testament is finding what you like to do and going to find something comparable... Ok so maybe that is easier said than done, one still can't just wait and see, figuring it out is apart of the process. So basically what I am trying to say is, stop crying and just do it.  They are enough people trying to end the world (via billboards), so maybe its time to act like their is a fire and brimstone coming from the sky. Let us get some stuff done, and for goodness sake can somebody please tell me why the hell (cut out by public restroom editors)

Some Hockey... by See-No

After dealing with an unusually large amount of injuries, things are finally starting to look up for the Pittsburgh Penguins. After a Carolina Hurricanes loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning Saturday night, the Pens officially secured a spot in the playoffs. A shootout win over the Florida Panthers on Sunday extended their winning streak to four games (all wins the product of shootouts) and extended new forward James Neal's shootout success rate with the Penguins to 3-4. Perhaps the biggest and most exciting development for the team though is the slow but steady recovery their captain, Sidney Crosby, is making. Crosby, who's been out with a concussion due to a blind side hit by David Steckel during the Winter Classic, has been doing 30 minute morning skates regularly for the past two weeks giving fans added hope that he'll be healthy in time for the playoffs. The Penguins have proven that even without their two superstar players (Crosby and Evgeni Malkin who's out the rest of the season with a torn ACL) they can persevere and win important games like Thursday's game when they beat long time rivals and main competition in the eastern division, the Philadelphia Flyers, 2-1. Hopefully they can duplicate the results on Tuesday night when they face the Flyers yet again.

The State of Unison

People, listen up, as a matter of fact... watch.  That is what I have to say about the recent turn of current events happening in Egypt.  Now, I will not go into details but seeing how a generation of people can rise against a government under a unified cause can make a difference. So being from a certain country that has stolen certain democratic ideals from the French, I do believe that there are plenty of things to fight for here in the States. Like hopeless social security, corrupt politicians, BAD lobbyist (Yes, some of them are good), lowering the drinking age, bad television,  and a whole plethora of items that are receptive by name.  I guess I should be getting to the point; when people join together to achieve something of great significance the possibilities are endless. We here at the Public Restroom do not condone random acts of looting and violence, but a quote from an Egyptian pretty much sets up the moral ideal, "We are not doing this as Muslims, Christians or Jews we are doing this as 'The People' of Egypt. So I ask, since this is the second 'Public Restroom' post of 2011, isn't this going to be an interesting year?

Is D.C. contagious or just boring??

During the fall of last year, Chicago native and chief of staff of Barack Obama's cabinet Rahm Emanuel Left his position. At his resignation speech he declared he wanted to run for the Mayor of Chicago. It was his dream job, by the way he lost.  I clearly did not really care, like anybody else reading this; today somebody else dropped out of the Obama camp, Ron Klain. He was the chief of staff to vice-president Joe Biden.  Is it me or do people seem to think working for a presidential cabinet is a resume booster, or a six month gig for 'fun' money.  As a job people would kill for a long time ago, today working for the presidential cabinet seems as appealing as the volunteer spot to get necessary hours for a unknown collegiate entrance. I blame the entourage effect, really, the hang and drag tail personnel clause.
Everyone wants to invite all of the supporters and friends into the party; while most of the time when they bring the food and drinks its mostly what you tell them to bring.  Why can't we invite somebody that we do not know, at least he/she will surprise us with something unexpected. They may also be another look here as well, with the near elections coming up next year (Wow, 2008 was three years ago!), they might be jumping a sinking ship.  Yeah.. not going down that road...yet

Free internet, will cost you.. Not Propaganda (Pt. 1)

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this is why we write. To inform or persuade.
Two words, Net Neutrality. What does it mean? Well, maybe internet left out of the hands of the suppliers?  For example, imagine a favorite item that you love, adore, appreciate, and care about dearly.  This item right now, is perfect, one can obtain it at no cost. Let's change scenery now, Imagine a couple or a few people started to make you pay for this item, but the kicker is they only give you chunks of it, bits and pieces, of the most perfect, amazing item that you have ever used.  Would that get you angry, upset, or just disappointed. Now, ever time the item gets put to use, it doesn't seem to have that same amount of marginal utility. Folks if you don't know what I am talking about by now, its the internet. Yes, the most fascinating invention that can be put into the same ranks as, the light bulb, the telephone, or maybe even the ShamWOW. What has happened over the past week, marks a very important battle for the freedom of the internet. Here comes the boring part, so pay attention.

The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) has been battling it out with certain wireless and internet providers, to try and regulate the internet. I know, why try and regulate something that is not broken? Some people believe it is a good idea to regulate the internet, so Providers do not overcharge consumers. Others do not agree with that assumption, their is also a strong belief that it may diminish innovation.

To be Continued...
